Seit ihrer Gründung in 2013 ist die Band um Frontfrau Lynn Gunn und ihre
Bandkollegen Alex Babinski (Gitarre, Tasten) und Brian MacDonald (Bass, Keyboards)
so ziemlich überall auftreten, von Coachella, Lollapalooza und Reading & Leads über
Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! und Support-Arenatouren für Muse, Fall Out Boy und 30 Seconds
To Mars bis zu ihren eigenen, ausverkauften Headliner-Shows. Vice, The New York
Times, Medium, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Playboy und weitere berichteten in den
höchsten Tönen.
2014 erschien PVRIS Debutalbum >White Noise<, 2017 folgte >All We Know of Heaven,
All We Need of Hell<, das in die Top 5 der US Billboard »Top Alternative Albums«-Charts
schoß. Aktuell steht PVRIS bei über 220 Millionen Streams, Tendenz stetig steigend.
Kein Wunder also, dass die internationale Fangemeinde neugierig aufhorchte, als am
22. Oktober mit >My Way< eine neue Single droppte, die berechtigte Hoffnung auf ein
baldiges neues Album weckt. In jedem Fall haben wir aber schon mal neue
Showtermine parat!
Auf >My Way< übernimmt Lynn Gunn vollends das Steuer: »My, my, my way / My sweat,
my blood, my pain« singt die Frontfrau aus Boston, Massachusetts über einen
elektrisierenden Synthie-Beat und verdeutlicht damit ihre Rolle in dieser Band. Schon
auf dem 2020er-Album >Use Me< trat sie als Frontfrau, Multi-Instrumentalistin,
Songwriterin und Producerin in Erscheinung. >My Way< setzt nun förmlich einen
emotionalen Stempel auf diese Entwicklung drauf, wie die Musikerin selbst verrät:
»>My Way< is a song about accepting and embracing the trials and tribulations of the
past, present, and future,« so Gunn. »It's about facing the pain, loss, hard times, and
hard decisions while finding empowerment and humility (and a sprinkle of humour)
through it all. Life always pushes us toward great change and growth. When we stop
fighting it and flow with it, we offer ourselves, and others, so much more. Whatever
way it takes us, our paths are all so uniquely our own. You have your way and I have
my way.«
